I just received a passel of cool looking kokanee tackle to try out in the near future. I had the pleasure of using some of this gear last year and I am excited to get out on the water and get some of this stuff wet! Joe Cronn the owner and founder of Angler’s Market is a long time avid angler and from what I understand, hunter as well. Joe Started fishing for kokanee a few years back with a buddy. They were evidently looking for some change from salmon and steelhead and since
Kokanee is one of the fastest growing fisheries on the West Coast they gave it a whirl. After some trial and error, (Gee, I wonder what that is? Trial and Error? Not for kokanee…) they started catching fish. Joe is the kind of guy that is never satisfied with the norm and evidently a tinkerer as well. Well to make a long story short, Joe and his buddy started developing a new system which is comprised of some new and some old.
It is a modular tube system which is totally new and very innovative. The trick is that the tube incorporates some components that were common in the bass and walleye fisheries. All of the components are arranged on a small diameter tube which keeps everything from dragging and wearing on the line as well as allowing it to slide freely up and down [click on the photos for a close up of each]You can see in the photos below what I am talking about. The components are such that you can adjust the look and action by swapping out some of the components with one of the optional Kokanee Komponents which come three and four to a pack.
For instance, you could add one of the Glow Stingers between the upper and lower hook to get that subtle change to stimulate the bite. You could also use some of the optional components to spice up your own tackle.
The dodgers are soft metal so you can easily adjust the bend to accommodate whatever speed or action that you are seeking.
Here’s what I want you to do now …
